Food Education & Jamie Oliver Cookery School Ministry of Food Program

We believe that access to food is only part of the equation — knowing how to prepare it is equally important.

Jamie Oliver Cookery School offers structured lesson plans complete with recipes and supporting videos designed to teach foundational cooking skills. Our mission is simple: transform the way people think about food and cooking.

For those who were never taught to cook, or who simply want to build confidence in the kitchen, we fill a critical gap by equipping individuals  and families with the practical skills they need to become truly self-sufficient. As cooking skills grow, so does the motivation to work with whole, natural ingredients and prepare meals from scratch.

The benefits extend far beyond the kitchen. Better cooking leads to better food choices, which fuels improved physical health and with that comes greater mental wellbeing. Participants gain the confidence to explore local farmers markets, connect with their communities, and discover a renewed sense of purpose that can open doors to employment and long-term personal success.

These classes are designed to empower participants and their families with the confidence and knowledge to prepare healthy, affordable meals for themselves and their families. Whether someone is learning to cook for the first time or simply looking to stretch a limited grocery budget further, we aim to offer a welcoming space to learn, grow, and connect.

Community Programs

Our community programs are the heartbeat of our outreach efforts, each one designed with compassion and intentionality to address real needs across Campbell County.

  • Random Acts of Kindness — This program mobilizes volunteers to help neighbors with gift cards for gas, fast food, or groceries as the need becomes evident. Random Acts of Kindness is a reminder that small gestures can have a profound and lasting impact. It reflects our core belief that every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and cared for.

  • Meal in a Bag — Designed for individuals and families facing food insecurity, the Meal in a Bag program provides pre-packed bags containing everything needed to prepare a complete shelf-stable, nutritious meal with a recipe to feed a family of four. This program is especially helpful for those who may lack consistent access to a full pantry, offering dignity and practicality in one simple package. Bags are distributed to Free Food Pantries in the area.

  • Groceries for a Month — For families experiencing a significant hardship or crisis, our Groceries for a Month program provides grocery store gift cards of up to $500 per family for month for a full month's supply of essential food items to help stabilize the household during a difficult time. This program is for families who are vetted and referred by a local church, non-profit or governmental agency.  This alleviates the immediate stress of food insecurity, allowing recipients to focus their energy and resources on addressing the root challenges they are facing. Recipients are also connected with additional services and resources to support their long-term wellbeing.

Galatians 6:2 "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
